The KnitChicks, a group of knitters from Midsomer Norton who have previously helped local charitable causes such as Frenchay Hospital and orphans in Romania, were one of four local knitting groups from across the country who had the opportunity to kit out Deal or No Deal's host, Noel Edmonds, for the start of the show's Christmas specials.
Founder of the KnitChicks, Pat Lichota, had previously appeared on the programme as a contestant and although she didn'treturn home having beaten the banker, she was remembred by producers, who contacted her about helping with the wardrobe for the Christmas season.
Pat, along with several of her fellow KnitChicks, her daughter-in-law, Catherine, and her granddaughter, June, took up the challenge and created a 3D, light-up Christmas jumper for Noel to wear to kick-off the run
of Christmas specials. In each episode, Noel sported a jumper created by a different local knitting group.
The festive jumper and a special message from the KnitChicks was featured on the show on Monday, 22nd December and is available to watch on 4OD, Channel 4's online catch-up service.
All of the knitted jumpers worn by Noel Edmonds
during the Christmas shows, including the one created
by KnitChicks, will be auctioned for charity.
