Eight members of the South Wansdyke Scout Network who recently gained their Queen's Scout Award were invited to attend the St George's Day Annual Review at Windsor Castle.

Here they paraded with other awardees from across the UK and were inspected by HRH the Duchess of Gloucester, representing the Queen, and Chief Scout, Bear Grylls.

Local Scout, Beth Harrington, said: "To take part in this review was an amazing experience for all of us and we are incredibly proud of what we have achieved. Our day at Windsor was unforgettable."

The Queen's Scout Award is the highest a young person can gain within the Scout Association and is the result of several years' hard work that involve volunteering, working on an international level, supporting an environmental project and completing a gruelling expedition.

Speaking of their particular expedition, Scout Rachel Edge said, "We've got some amazing memories. At some points we were really struggling, but as a team, we supported each other and finished together.

"We are all incredibly proud of our achievement." South Wansdyke's latest Queen's Scouts are Lewis Trethewey, Alex Harrington, Adam Sage, Chevy Bidwell, Beth Harrington, Rachael Edge, Becci Horler and Ellie Johns-Turner.
