Children and staff at Longvernal Primary School in Midsomer Norton held a special goodbye assembly last week to wish a retired local couple well as they move out of the area.
Brian and Maureen Clark have been volunteering at the school for eight years, taking on any task – listening to readers, Forest School and swimming. Mr Clark has often used his professional skills as a chef to bake with the children for events such as the Royal Wedding. Headteacher, Jane Richardson, said: "Mr and Mrs Clark have truly demonstrated how much some people give to the community. Everyone at Longvernal wishes them well in their new home."
If you are someone who could give some voluntary time to Longvernal School, be it for reading, crafts, growing plants or any other skill, please contact reception on: 01761 412777.
In other Longvernal news, Maple Class have been using role play to help bring to life history research. They walked in costume to their authentic local Victorian railway station to look for clues as history detectives. Thanks go to Mrs Shirley Steel who is also a Governor at the school, who helped to set up the visit and provided an interesting tour of the site.
