On Thursday, 11th November, pupils at Longvernal Primary School commemorated Armistice Day with a special Remembrance Assembly led by Gary Chandler, a representative from the Midsomer Norton & Radstock Branch of the Royal British Legion.
The children listened carefully as Gary explained the importance of Remembrance; the role of the British Legion in supporting veterans and their families; and the different colours/types of poppies that are worn, as well as explaining their meanings.
Children were invited to enquire and ask their own questions about Remembrance and welcomed the opportunity to share their own family history stories with Gary and their peers.
The children showed great respect and benefitted from hearing information shared directly from the Legion.
A huge thank you to the support of the Royal British Legion and particularly Gary, for speaking to the children.
