AFTER a week of glorious sunshine, the clouds stayed away just long enough for the official opening of brand-new play equipment at Leigh on Mendip School.
An area of our school grounds was transformed with a new wooden timber trail to replace the previous equipment which was 15 years old and reached the end of its life.
The new trail was designed to get our pupils moving, climbing and exploring the great outdoors guided by the school’s Nurturing Curious Minds ethos.

Director of primary education for the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership, Mrs Kerrie Courtier was on hand to mark the occasion.
As soon as the ribbon fell, the quiet afternoon air was filled with cheers as children raced onto the structures for the very first time.
The equipment, designed to challenge and inspire, represents a significant investment in the physical well-being and happiness of the pupils at our school by the Partnership.
With ceremonial scissors in hand and a crowd of eager faces watching on, Mrs Courtier officially cut the ribbon, signalling the start of a new era of break-time adventure.
“This is an amazing improvement to the school grounds,” said Mrs Courtier after the ceremony. “It will have a huge impact on the children’s year-round outdoor play.”

The project was made possible through the support of the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership, ensuring that the school grounds remain a vibrant place for growth both inside and outside the classroom.
Executive head at Leigh on Mendip School, Dan Turull, expressed his gratitude for the project’s completion and said: “Our pupils are all very excited about this fantastic addition to our school grounds.
“We would like to thank our multi-academy trust for funding this wonderful project and Phoenix Play for bringing our vision to life.”
