A Crowdfunder page has been created by the Midsomer Norton and District Carnival Association to raise funds for this year’s glittering event, which is due to take place in November.
An appeal on the Association’s website reads: “With a very slow start to fundraising, due to all the snow, we unfortunately lost out on the opportunity to raise funds at the Bath Half Marathon. As one of our largest fundraising events in the calendar, its loss has left us with a financial hole to fill.
“As well as trying to fill the hole ourselves by launching a number of new initiatives to raise much-needed funds, we’ve also created a crowd-funding page with a target of raising £1,000 by public donations. What’s great about this type of funding is that people can donate from anywhere in the world, and you can see exactly how the appeal is doing.
“We’d be very grateful for your support and a donation of anything you can spare to get the appeal rolling.”
A statement on the Crowdfunder page said: “[The Carnival is] a community event purely organised by volunteers for our registered charity, but the event also allows various other charities and good causes to benefit as well.
“Not only does it help multiple charities, it also brings people together like no other event. Our carnival attracts people of all backgrounds and ages within the community to share in the enjoyment and memories that our illuminated Carnival brings – we’ve been creating magical memories since 1948, and we’d love you help to support this wonderful truly community event.”
