After another great year of raising many thousands of pounds for charity, it was a special day for Terry Phillips, Concert Secretary of the Mendip Male Voice Choir, when he presented cheques for £3,500 to both the South West Hospice and the Air Ambulance.

Representatives of the four groups involved in the recent concert at Wells Cathedral, from Taunton, Glastonbury, Mendip and a Police choir, were in attendance at the South West Hospice to present the cheques, totalling £7,000.

Now it is back to 2018 business for the Mendip lads, starting the New Year with recording more pieces for their forthcoming CD!

There are many concerts arranged for the new year for the choir, commencing with a first for the Camerton Community Centre on Monday, 26th March in aid of the facility. It is hoped the villagers will get behind this event, with much-needed funds required to refurbish this valuable village asset.

It’s now a great time for men to join the choir – come along and have a go, there is nothing to pay for the first term, so what is there to lose? You will never know what you have been missing until you have sung with a seventy-strong choir.

Rehearsals are every Monday night at 7.15 p.m. at St Mary’s Primary School, Timsbury.
