Mendip's motorists will have four road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

But drivers will be able to take some solace in the fact that all of them are only expected to cause slight delays, of less than 10 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

A303, from midnight, June 12 to 11.59pm August 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A303 Podimore to Sparkford used as a diversion for Wessex Water closure of Steart Hill.

A303, from 6am May 9 to 6am October 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A303 both directions Podimore lane closures/contraflow for Sparkford to Ilchester improvement scheme.

And a further two closures will begin over the next two weeks:

A36, from 10am to 3pm on June 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A36 Standerwick mobile stop and go boards for sweeping.

A36, from 9pm July 1 to 8am July 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A36 Standerwick traffic lights in place for Network Rail bridge inspection.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
