The Methodists travelled to sunny Frenchay Cricket Club to play their 3rd XI and, on winning the toss, asked the home team to bat first.

Akshat Krishna and Chris Hallett made a good start to the innings, putting on 42 in nine overs before Krishna’s fluent knock ended on 23, as he chipped to the safe hands of David Baker. After that, things went very much with the home side - Hallett and new batsman Joe Redgers took full advantage of any loose deliveries to find the gaps in the fast outfield and, in their 26 overs together, they added an impressive 169 runs. Their partnership was finally broken by Mark Robinson (1-14) as Redgers (89) picked out Baker again on the leg-side boundary, ending his time in the middle. Hallett (96) followed him back a few overs later as Frenchay looked to boost their total with some quick running between the wickets - two late run outs by Robinson and keeper Alex Nash meaning the hosts had to be happy with 253-4 at tea.

After the break, a familiar script unfurled as the Methodists’ top-order were again undone by pace and swing. The multi-talented Krishna (1-12) and Lewis Moss (3-28) reduced the visitors to 14-4 inside seven overs, before Nash and James Sackett were able to stop the collapse. The pair added a vital 56 runs for the next wicket until Nash (36) was eventually snared by the spin of Rachel Le Poidevin - the dogged Sackett (17) then batting on with Stuart Green (21) to bring up three-figures for the Methodists. More youthful talent in the form of Liv Daniels (4-13) then quickly spun out the final four batters, boosting Frenchay’s promotion credentials, and wrapping up a comprehensive home win by 147 runs.
