Midsomer Norton and the surrounding areas turned out in force last Friday evening to enjoy the town's Christmas Fayre. Father Christmas and his reindeer came through the High Street as crowds lined the way, with performances from street masqueraders and the Stardust Majorettes. The town's shops stayed open late for Christmas shopping and local charities and organisations lined the street with stalls. There was free hot punch and mince pies in The Hollies, where Mayor, Paul Myers, and Chairman of B&NES Council, Neil Butters, later switched on the Christmas lights, alongside Carnival royalty. The event was compered by Somer Valley FM Manager, Dom Chambers, with children taking part in a Nativity (with a real baby laid in a manger) and the singing of carols.
