The Midsomer Norton and Radstock RUH Fundraising Group have a busy month ahead of them, with two fantastic fundraising events planned for April. These events will help to raise funds for the Forever Friends Appeal's RUH Cancer Care Campaign, transforming cancer care at the Royal Untied Hospital. First up is the group's Hamster Race Night on 10th April at Welton Rovers Football Club, starting at 7 p.m. This will be followed by their second Charity Spinathon, at Tesco on 18th April.
The Hamster Race Night is free to attend and lucky guests will be able to place small bets on a series of races, where seven toy hamsters will battle it out through a challenging obstacle course to be crowned victorious. The winning hamsters will also be entered into the Grand Final, where they will compete to be crowned overall champion. As if this honour were not enough, the owner of this champion hamster will also win the £70 jackpot! If you would like to 'buy' one of the racing hamsters for this event, please contact: 07973 374647.
The Hamster Race Night promises to be a hilarious evening for the whole family. The group urge people to come along for an evening less ordinary and help to raise funds for an amazing local cause at the same time.
The fun does not stop there! After the huge success of the Midsomer Norton and Radstock RUH Fundraising Group's first Spinathon, they are back to face the challenge once again.
This eight-hour challenge will see sixteen brave volunteers complete an hour's spinning slot each and Big Ted himself may even make an appearance! The group's previous Spinathon, held in October 2014, raised an incredible £1,279 for the RUH Cancer Care Campaign – let's see if we can do even better this time!
The Midsomer Norton and Radstock RUH Fundraising Group is looking for new members to join and help organise fantastic fundraising events, like those discussed above. They are a group of friendly, local people who meet once a month to organise activities and events.
If you are interested in joining the group, or would just like to hear more about it, please contact the Community Fundraiser for the Forever Friends Appeal, Lydia McGivern, on: 01225 825825.
Lydia said: "This is such a wonderful, fun group, who are committed to transforming care at the RUH and have already made such an amazing contribution to our campaign. With a few more members, there would be no limit to what they could achieve!
