ELEVEN-year-old Midsomer Norton Primary School pupil Bertie McGlennon is continuing his fundraising streak.

He has spent his entire primary school life raising money for Children in Need, beginning his efforts in 2019.

Inspired by a moving children’s documentary he watched six years ago, he asked his mother if there was something they could do to support the appeal. Since then, the pair have continued the tradition every year.

Each autumn, in the weeks leading up to Children in Need, Bertie challenges his mother to bake something special, which is then raffled to help raise funds.

What started as a simple idea has now grown into a yearly fixture that classmates, families and staff look forward to supporting.

This year’s raffle raised £401, contributing to a running total of £1,248 since the fundraising began. The effort has not only strengthened the school’s community spirit but has also demonstrated Bertie’s consistent commitment to helping others throughout his time at the school.

Bertie's mother Kerry said she could not be prouder of her son’s enthusiasm: “Every year on the lead-up to Children in Need, Bertie asks if there is something we can do. It is so lovely that he wants to help and raise money for a worthy cause.”
