Wickes’ local DIY store is supporting the forthcoming Midsomer Arts Festival with generous donations of materials to help create artwork.
The store has provided materials, including plywood, emulsion paint and lengths of strip wood to help create large community flowers. Petals have been distributed to individuals and groups within the community to decorate, and then
assembled to create large flowers, which will be sited around the area during the festival.
The flowers have been chosen to symbolise the blossoming of Midsomer Norton and the Somer Valley area, through the various community groups and individuals working together in creative and shared enterprise. Last year, large plywood shovel shapes were decorated by local residents and groups.
Wickes have also provided other materials to help with art activities, such as mosaic and sculpture workshops.
There will be a wide range of art and craft workshops available on Saturday, 18th June during the festival. The Arts Festival team would welcome any business that would like to be involved in the festival and is keen to hear from any individuals or groups that would like to decorate a petal.
