All Somerset ex-National Coal Board workers were invited to attend a day out at Midsomer Norton railway station, funded by the Somerset Miners’ Welfare Trust.

Over seventy ex-miners and their families attended what proved to be an excellent day organised by the wonderful people at the station.

There was an included packed lunch that many decided to eat on the train journeys on the mile long track, there was plenty of room with three journeys organised during the day.

The well stocked museum was well attended by the gathering with a guide in attendance. All in all, a great day for the ex-miners, a great big thank you to the team at Midsomer Norton Station – let’s do it again next year. B. Hawkins
