Former employees of the Somerset Coalfields met on Monday for the 28th Annual Miners’ Reunion, which was held at Radstock Musem.
The event was organised by the volunteers of the Museum, with the support of the
Radstock Co-operative Society, which provided the ploughman’s lunch, and the Somerset Miners’ Welfare Trust. Michael Eavis joined fellow colleagues to reminisce about his days at New Rock pit in Stratton-on-the-Fosse, milking the cows at Worthy Farm in the morning and dashing to his shift underground to help keep the farm afloat. He launched Glastonbury Festival two years after the mine closed.
