PUPILS at St Benedict’s Catholic Primary School in Midsomer Norton will be taking part in the Mini Police Programme, working with local police to learn about community safety and civic responsibility.

Children in Years 4, 5 and 6 will work alongside PCSO Will Mortimer as part of the programme, learning about law enforcement, community safety and civic responsibility through a series of structured activities.

The programme, which begins this month, is designed to help pupils build confidence, develop teamwork skills and develop an understanding of social justice, while encouraging a positive relationship with local policing.

The initiative forms part of the school’s wider approach to personal development. This includes a recent Acts of Kindness Celebration, which recognised pupils for demonstrating care, respect and a sense of community in their everyday activities.

Ellen Croker, headteacher at St Benedict's Catholic Primary School, said: “We’re delighted to take part in this innovative programme. Our pupils will gain more than just knowledge of community safety. They will learn to take initiative, show empathy, and believe in their ability to make a positive difference. I can’t wait to see them grow in confidence and take on new challenges.”
