At the end of 2021 the Chilcompton Art Club moved from their previous venue at St John’s Church Hall to the new premises at the Chilcompton Sports Club. The move also entailed the shifting of many art-related items that had been donated to the club, and kept stored, over the years.

Then, on top of that, while the club was not operating due to lockdowns, the club received a sizeable donation of quality items from the family of former member, Rhona Rawson. With agreement from Rhona’s family, and the membership in general, it was decided to sell as many of the items as possible, and donate the proceeds to the Dorothy House Hospice.

A lot of the items were purchased by club members, and then, when the club held its annual exhibition in Stratton Village Hall, just before Christmas, most of the remaining items were snapped up by visitors to the exhibition.

The final amount raised came to £250 and a cheque was presented to the fundraising team at Dorothy House Hospice by club Chairman, Mr John Sibley on Thursday, 13th January. The Art Club is now well settled in the new venue and is open every Wednesday and Friday morning, full details available at: www.
