Local children’s book author, Mike Gould, has changed direction, with a new World War Two novel, Reluctant Travellers, which sees part of the setting of the story being around the Midsomer Norton area in the 1940s.

The story was inspired by letters, day-to-day diaries, photographs and discussions. The book is largely based on facts obtained from the material.

Reluctant Travellers tells of two people who were very much in love being drawn into the Second World War. The young man was called-up into the RAF, and after RADAR training, was posted to Malta, North Africa and Corsica.

His girlfriend spent her time in the Army located near Coventry and London. Both were involved with the horrors of War, as family and friends at home had to carry on their lives with the effects all around them.

The book is available from Amazon as a paperback or Kindle downloadable version.
