Bath & North East Somerset Council’s brand new mobile library will enter service on Monday, 1st July.
The custom-designed vehicle will provide communities across the authority with a full lending service, giving access to DVDs, talking books and the three million books available from the LibrariesWest catalogue.
It will also offer digital access to online services and Wi-Fi for users of the service.
Councillor Paul Crossley, cabinet member for Community Services, said: “We know how much the mobile library is valued by customers across Bath & North East Somerset, and this new vehicle will serve our communities for many years to come. It is more fuel-efficient than its predecessor, and as it is slightly slimmer, it will be better able to cope with country lanes, offering a more reliable service to rural communities.”
Residents may get a glimpse of the new mobile library during the last week of June, as it hits the streets of Bath & North East Somerset testing all routes before it starts providing a full service for customers on 1st July.
Full details of the mobile library’s routes and timings can be found on the council’s website: https://www.bathnes.gov.uk/services/libraries-and-archives/library-outreach-services-and-access-all/mobile-library-routes
