Visitors to Hinton Blewett’s acclaimed viewpoint at Prospect Stile will be delighted to find that it has been enhanced with an interpretative sign detailing the many points of interest in the extensive view.

The viewpoint, from which it is possible to see the Brecon Beacons on a clear day, is a popular destination with walkers along the Butcombe trail, a route linking former Butcombe pubs across the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

The project has been an aspiration of Hinton Blewett Parish Council since the addition of a bench at the viewpoint a few years ago. Now, with generous help from three sponsors, the project has become a reality. The Mendip Hills AONB, Wessex Watermark and the Duchy of Cornwall all joined to support the project and particular thanks go to local artist, Paul Martin, who put the design together.

Chairman of the Parish Council, Liz Brimmell, said: “We have something really special here in Hinton Blewett with this captivating view. As a rural community overlooking the Mendip Hills AONB we are very proud of our beautiful surroundings and want to celebrate them.”

The Parish Council would be pleased to hear from local residents with suggestions for future projects of benefit to the village.
