Following the recent election for a Ward Councillor at Writhlington, existing Councillors, Nick Toogood and Keith Tyrrell, officially welcomed newly-elected Rob Langley to the Ward outside the Village Hall last week.

Both Cllr Toogood and Cllr Tyrrell say they are delighted that Rob Langley was elected, as he has lived in Writhlington since 2003 and is involved in local activities, including being Vice-Chair of Governors at St Mary’s School.

Speaking to The Journal this week, Councillors Toogood and Tyrrell said they believed it to be essential that Councillors should live in the ward to truly represent and understand the resident’s issues – enabling Rob to now serve the community to the best of his abilities.

Keith Tyrrell said: “Councillor Toogood and I look forward to working with Cllr Langley in continuing to improve Writhlington for the residents in any way that we can.

“This follows pending road improvements on the Frome Road and Knobsbury Lane, which will commence imminently.”

Rob Langley is an Independent candidate and stood against Matthew Shearn, from the Labour party. He won the election held on 16th March by 159 votes to 97.

Rob said: “I would like to thank the people who voted for me and I am proud to be representing Writhlington on Radstock Town Council – Keith, Nick and myself will work hard to ensure that Writhlington’s voice is heard.

“On a personal level, I would like to see better play park facilities for the children in Writhlington.”
