Somer Valley FM’s Drivetime show is due to take to the air tomorrow (Thursday, 8th October) - quite literally!

Luke Barnes, Somer Valley FM’s Production Manager and Presenter, Rob Bayly, will be taking Drivetime live across the skies of the Somer Valley in a hot air balloon. They will be bringing live traffic and travel updates to the area with a bird’s eye view of the towns and villages in the Somer Valley area.

Rob and Luke will take off from Somervale School, and Luke will talk to experienced balloonist, Rob, about what he has learnt about our area and also how his hobby has helped people overcome their fear of flying.

Somer Valley FM’s Six Week Challenge will play a big part in the show, which will be showcasing past initiatives ahead of a bigger and better challenge starting from 1st November 2015.

Members of the public are invited to come and watch the balloon launch from 3.45 pm tomorrow and the duo aim to take off as close to 4 pm as possible, weather permitting. They hope to travel towards Bath depending on wind direction, and Luke reports that the internet connection has been better in the skies than back on solid ground in the town!

Last July, Rob combined his passion for ballooning with music and helped to create an in-air orchestra, alongside composer, Charles Hazlewood, and fifteen other balloonists carrying the musicians.
