The North Somerset Railway C.I.C. has moved a small 0-4-0 diesel locomotive they own to Radstock for restoration.Originally starting out its life as a Sentinel chain driven steam locomotive, it was converted to diesel by Thomas Hill (Rotherham) Ltd. who replaced the boiler with a six cylinder/179 horsepower diesel engine and installed hydraulic transmission. The loco once worked at Whatley Quarry and previously supported an A.R.C. livery.

This project is being undertaken by the NSR as a precursor to the much hoped for ‘green light’ from Railway Paths Ltd. (owners of the land) that will permit work on the redundant section of railway line between Radstock and Great Elm (near Frome) to begin, and the subsequent granting of a TWO (Transport and Works Act Order).
