A comprehensive survey by 3SG, the local third sector infrastructure organisation for charities and social enterprises in Bath and North East Somerset, has revealed that 74% are extremely or moderately concerned about the viability of their organisations going into 2021/2022.
Speaking about the results, 3SG Director, James Carlin, said: “Charities are seeing increased pressure on services, but there is a lag between funding and meeting that increased demand.
“Staff wellbeing, long-term funding and viability of current services are all key concerns, which is extremely worrying, when you consider the positive contribution made by local charities to our communities.”
The cancellation or postponement of major fundraising events has also affected the income of many charities, in some cases, resulting in a drop of over 70%. At the same time, almost half of respondents are having difficulty retaining volunteers, because normal activities are not taking place or have been significantly reduced.
James said: “This is a vital time to help local charities.
“As well as donations and fundraising, it can be helpful to offer your time and skills. Over the last six months, we’ve seen the awesome power of people coming together to help each other and you can get involved by heading to the Compassionate Community website: compassioncb.org.uk/”
