Wellfield Barn, Walcombe Lane (off A39 Bristol Hill), Wells BA5 3AG. Tuesday, 29th May from 11.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.
This delightful 1½-acre garden has been created over 22 years from a concrete farmyard and like all gardens is always being tweaked here and there.
The ha-ha which built to stop the wandering sheep gives a platform for enjoying the wonderful views.
Within the garden you will find a pond at the front of the barn; surrounding the barn mixed borders, a formal sunken garden, hydrangea bed, grass walks and interesting young and semi-mature trees. The structured design integrates the barn with the garden and landscape. Special interest plants are the hardy geranium family, shown on BBC Gardeners World with Carol Klein.
This garden is also open by arrangement during June and July, details can be found on: www.ngs.org.uk or from the Somerset booklet.
