A Macmillan Coffee morning held at Midsomer Norton Cricket Club on Sunday, 1st November has raised £1,735.71.

Emma Cox, one of the organisers of the event, said: “We had many, many kind donations of lovely cakes, biscuits, sweets and some very generous raffle prizes including two kids mountain bikes and a Mulberry handbag. Local companies contributed to the raffle including James Christopher Hairdressing, Rosecraft, Feet1st4u, Green Apple, at the Centurion, Clarks and Asda.

“The event had a brilliant atmosphere, everyone showed so much support it was very warming to know how a community can come together for such a great charity event.”

The winners of the mountain bikes were Oliver Wood, from Wells, and Lucie Notley, from Midsomer Norton. Lucie is kindly selling her old bike and donating the money to Macmillan. The morning finished by auctioning the Mulberry bag. The bidding started at £30 and it sold in the end to Lee Miller, from Westfield, who bid a generous £170, his wife, Heidi Miller, was a very happy lady!

Emma said: “The whole reason we organised this event was because my mum, Angela Tabb, was diagnosed with breast cancer back in April, Angela had a single mastectomy and is now having reconstruction, but she has been given the all clear which is excellent news and my uncle, Chris Tabb was also diagnosed with cancer in the his kidney, lungs and brain. Chris is currently having ongoing treatment. Both of them are local, mum has worked at the North Road dental surgery for over fifteen years as a dental nurse and Chris Tabb, brother of Kevin and Nigel Tabb, is one of Midsomer Norton cricket club’s heros for his first class cricket, they were both very grateful, overwhelmed and pleased with how the event went and how much we raised.”
