Jacqui Howell, from Paulton, has become the first artist outside Bath to have her work featured in the Guildhall.

Jacqui was contacted by the Chairman of the Council, Cllr Ian Gilchrist, to feature her work at the Guildhall after seeing examples in The Journal back in June, when she was exhibiting at a museum in Oxford. Her ‘Colour in the City’ exhibit makes up the latest display of art that is outside the Chairman’s rooms in the Guildhall, Bath.

Jacqui said: “While my photographic subjects vary widely, I find myself repeatedly drawn to graffiti and the historic architecture in Bath. My work urbanises Bath without physically changing its familiar face, whilst appreciating the skills of the stone mason and the graffiti artist.”

The exhibition launched on Tuesday, 6th October and will run from 7th October – 9th November, access can be gained through the main Guildhall reception during the opening hours of the Guildhall, the work is in the public area of the building so there is no charge.

Jacqui said: “The opening evening went well and I had lots of interest, I sold one piece that night and have had lots of interest via Twitter.”
