Campaigners for better, reliable school transport from Paulton to Midsomer Norton are celebrating this week with news that a new, larger 42 seater bus will be operating from 2nd November, run by Somerbus.
It will run from Farmborough through Hallatrow and on the main road through Paulton, stopping at the War Memorial in the village at 8.10 a.m. and all other bus stops enroute, arriving at Somervale School at 8.22 a.m. and Norton Hill School at 8.30 a.m.
At the end of the school day, it will leave Norton Hill School at 3.30 p.m., arriving at Somervale School at 3.40 p.m. and reaching the Paulton Post Office stop at 3.50 p.m.
Miranda Stevens, Chair of the Parents’ Committee, said: “This is a good opportunity for our children to have a dedicated bus to take them to both schools.”
Councillor Liz Hardman, (Labour, Paulton), who is also a member of this committee, added: “This means that parents, carers and children now have an extra bus on hand to take pupils safely to and from secondary school”.
Somerbus’ smaller bus, which operates only from Paulton, picking up pupils and members of the public from the housing estates in the village, will continue to run, as will First Bus. “We are hoping that many parents will use this additional bus, which will take pupils to both Norton Hill and Somervale Schools,” said Cllr John Bull, (Labour, Paulton), this week.
