Paulton SEND is an online support group which helps parents and carers to cope with children and young people with special needs.
The group was set up by three amazing women, Davina Watts, Amanda Paterson and Jo Briggs. They provide a variety of opportunities for parents and carers of children with SEND to get together to chat and be signposted for support.
The group have coffee meetings once a month, posted on Facebook, so parents can be amongst like-minded people. They use their own experiences to support fellow parents and carers in giving them an opportunity to chat, relax and be amongst like-minded individuals to help them through what is a very tough journey.
Davina Watts, one of the organisers, said: “Costa and the Green Café in Midsomer Norton have been amazing in offering support, as well as so many local businesses.”
The target to raise funds to support meetings in local venues has now been exceeded. This is due mainly to the £275 raised from the Quiz Evening at the Red Lion Pub, Paulton.
Councillor Liz Hardman said: “This group are doing a fantastic job and we’re delighted that so much money has been raised on their behalf. A big thank you also to Dot Mitchard, who has run almost twenty quizzes at the Red Lion, raising more than £3,000 for good causes.”
