Developers trying to regenerate land at the Welton, Bibby and Baron site in Midsomer Norton will find out whether or not the application can go ahead at an appeal hearing set for 20th – 23rd March at Farrington Golf Club.
An independent inspector will hear from both the applicant and B&NES Council over the four-day hearing. If approved, the outline application could see the demolition of the old factory site and buildings to provide a mixed-use redevelopment of around 200 homes, employment use for light industrial/office space, a convenience store, public house and hotel (such as a Premier Inn, for example) and sheltered and affordable housing.
The plans were refused by B&NES in March last year, with an appeal lodged in November. This is the third time a planning application has been put to B&NES on this site since the factory relocated, with the first put forward by a different developer, who proposed a supermarket and housing on the site.
