The following article is a candidate profile for the Midsomer Norton Town Council candidate, Chris Griffiths. All views expressed are solely those of the author.
I am probably one of the least local new candidates having only relocated to the area 3 years ago.
I moved to the area with my wife Jemma and son – who has now relocated to Hampshire and our dog. I have a strong professional background in retail having worked at management level for some large national organisations. In the last 5 years I have moved into a Facilities Management role at a National Level.
You may have heard me on the local radio where I present a regular show. Having been on our local Parish Council where we used to live, when we relocated this is something I was keen to do again. I was co-opted onto the Midsomer Norton Town Council and was known for challenging the status quo and this was not always well received.
After some decisions were made in which I disagreed with I resigned from the council. I am confident that with new people hoping to join the council we will finally be in a position to act in the interests of the wider public and not the individuals on the council. I would love to be a part of the new council and will continue to ask the difficult questions.
I am also hoping to join B&NES council so that I can help the representation of Midsomer Norton.
