Peasedown St John Parish Council formally set its precept for 2018/2019 at the January 2018 Full Council meeting. Councillors voted for no increase in the amount payable by local residents for services in Peasedown St John, keeping the amount payable by a Band D property at £82.00 per year, the same as in 2017.
The Parish Council will be using existing ear-marked reserves for some exciting projects during 2018, including the upgrading of 120 street lights to LED – a process which will benefit all residents by giving them more reliable and effective lighting that will also greatly reduce both light pollution and energy costs.
Other planned projects that will enhance the village and village life include the installation of Equality Act compliant gates on the entrances to public open spaces in the village, and a possible upgrade to the multi-use games area on Beacon Field and the children’s play area on the Recreation Ground.
Chair of the Parish Council, Kathy Thomas, said: “We are really pleased that due to efficiencies and careful planning, we have been able to provide a zero increase in the precept payable by local residents. We are looking forward to the year ahead, and to the exciting improvements we have planned for the village.”
