Pupils were gifted the bikes and helmets by Trek Bicycle of Bath.

School Headteacher, Ruth Noall, said: “Riding a bicycle is an important part of a young child’s physical development, which builds core strength and improves co-ordination and balance, as well as being great for boosting self-confidence.

“Our aim at the school is that all children should have the ability to handle a bike confidently by the time they take part in our annual ride in Year 6 through the Two Tunnels in Bath. We’re grateful to Trek for helping us towards that goal.”

The children couldn’t wait to get started and enjoyed taking turns on the bikes and trying out their new helmets.

Claire Cottrell, at Trek Bicycle Bath, based in Roseberry Road, added: “We’re delighted to be part of helping the pupils at Shoscombe get riding. So, we want to encourage all children to get completely confident on two wheels and carry that enthusiasm with them through life!”

Trek Bicycle Bath are keen to support local charities and businesses that help get more people on bikes.
