PUBLIC notices include applications for licensing, planning, roadworks, and other local projects. They keep communities informed of proposed developments, which local authorities then review for approval or refusal.
Bath and North East Somerset Council has published a number of recent planning applications affecting properties across the district. Residents and interested parties can view the full register online at www.bathnes.gov.uk/webforms/planning or in person at the One Stop Shops in Bath, Keynsham, and Midsomer Norton during opening hours.
The council is inviting members of the public to provide feedback on any of the applications. Comments can be submitted online or in writing to Planning Services, Lewis House, Manvers Street, Bath, BA1 1JG. Feedback must be received within 21 days of the publication of this notice.
Applications cover a wide range of developments, including extensions and alterations to residential properties, conversions, and work on listed buildings.
Examples include a replacement roof on an existing conservatory at 2 Lyndhurst Terrace, Walcot, and alterations to the shop fronts and fascia at 5 and 6 Bridge Street in the city centre. Other proposals include rear extensions and loft conversions at properties across Bath and surrounding areas, including 8 Laura Place, Bathwick, and Livingstone Lodge, Combe Down.
Several applications involve changes of use, such as the conversion of a holiday let at 14 Newbridge Road, Newbridge, to a small house in multiple occupation, and the change of upper floors of 6 North Parade, Bath, from offices to a hotel or guest house. Other proposals include alterations to internal layouts, the addition of dormer windows, and the installation of new windows and doors.
Work on listed buildings is also a major part of the current applications. These include masonry repairs to Horseshoe Bridge on the Kennet and Avon Canal, internal and external works at The Coach House, Widcombe, and refurbishment of 12 Vineyards, Walcot. Other applications involve re-thatching roofs, signage, roof repairs, and improvements to the external appearance of historic properties.
Residents who wish to comment should include the reference number for the application and their postcode. This ensures that comments can be considered in the context of location. The council welcomes input from the community, which helps ensure that developments are in keeping with local character and needs.
The full register of planning applications is available for inspection, and feedback can be submitted online or by post.
