Inspired by one of their fellow students, the Somervale Equality Team has organised a Cancer Research UK charity concert that took place in the school hall on the evening of Wednesday, 23rd March and was a roaring success!

Students and staff alike took part in a Variety Concert in order to raise money for this charity, which is close to the Equality Team’s heart. One of the members, a Year 11 student, was diagnosed with a rare form of throat cancer last year. Thankfully they are now on the mend, but is now using their time to spread the message of Cancer Research and to raise as much money as possible for the charity.

The concert raised over £1,100 for Cancer Research UK, with parents and staff commenting on the quality of the entertainment provided – Well done to all who took part!

One parent who sent an email to the school following the concert said: “Please pass on my thanks to everyoneinvolved in the concert last night, yet again it was a

wonderful event. As ever, I’m amazed to see the talent of some of those children.”
