Seventy-two members, parents and friends of 1st Radstock Scout Group took part in a sponsored cycle ride from Radstock to Mells last Sunday; their ages ranged from three to 73. They were raising money for 'Operation Groundforce,' which will pay for much-needed repairs to the grounds of their Scout Hall. The total raised is expected to be £3,000 and will enable the urgent work to start in June.

One of the riders, Luke, a scout, ten, said: "I was doing well until a fly went up my nose." Hazel, one of the adult supporters, added: "The weather was nice, no wind, and you could hear birds singing all the way."

Group Scout Leader, Janet Turner, said: "I am delighted with the amount that has been raised and would like to thank all those who took part, from the youngest to the oldest, and all those who acted as sponsors. It was great to see everyone out and about and enjoying themselves."

Two cubs, Ben and Henry, who could not be present on the day, are planning their own cycle ride next week, so there is still time for anyone to make a gift-aided donation online via: http://www.mydonate.bt.com/events/cycleride2013/97694">www.mydonate.bt.com/events/cycleride2013/97694

The fund-raising efforts continue with Woggle Fest Two, a music festival featuring local bands, on Sunday, 15th September.
