Radstock Town Council has issued a statement in response to a reported accident at the Tom Huyton play area on 24th July. The park has recently seen improvements made to it, having made headlines back in January 2016, with parents complaining about broken and missing equipment, dogs’ mess, broken benches, bottles and drug paraphernalia.

The Town Council told The Journal this week: “We have received a report of an accident at the Tom Huyton play area, which took place on 24th July 2017.

“That a child has injured themselves at the Tom Huyton play area is truly upsetting. We are sorry that this has happened, and will make every effort to communicate our investigations with the family to ensure that they are kept up-to-date.

“Although a terrible incident, we can confirm that the playground area did indeed conform to British Standard EN:1176 requirements.

“The incident is the subject of an investigation being carried out in conjunction with the Town Council’s insurers and a further statement will be issued at the conclusion of this process.

“We will continue to make ourselves available to the family.”
