After many complaints about the state of Redfield Road, Midsomer Norton, resurfacing works are due to start on 13th August.

The road had last been resurfaced fairly recently, but such has been the deterioration, where large holes have appeared, Ward Councillors Chris Watt and Paul Myers have argued that it must be done again. Cllr Chris Watt (Conservative, Midsomer Norton Redfield), said: “It’s not clear what the problem was with the last job, but the whole surface has simply disintegrated, which makes it a bumpy drive for motorists and dangerous for cyclists and people on foot crossing the road. We’ve been reassured that this time the surface will be properly scraped back, to ensure that the road quality lasts longer.”

Work will be carried out under a road closure from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and is anticipated to take one week. Diversion routes will be in place for local traffic and advance notices will be positioned to notify drivers of the road closure.

Residents will also be informed that any cars parked may be removed so as not to delay works. Every evening the road will be re-opened to traffic. Whilst access will be maintained for residents within the road closure whenever possible, this will be limited and only when safe to do so, as site operations allow, with access being controlled by Traffic Marshals. Bus operators have been informed and will be re-routing services where required. Concerns or questions to: 01225 394041.
