A RESIDENT of Rossetti House care home in Frome recently enjoyed a memorable visit to Longleat Safari Park, fulfilling a long-held wish to reconnect with the animals and experiences she cherished from previous visits.
The team at Care UK’s Rossetti House, on Welshmill Lane, arranged for animal-lover Mima Guy to meet a host of furry and feathered friends at Longleat Safari Park.
Mima’s wish was inspired by cherished memories of taking her family to the Wiltshire attraction on its grand opening day in 1966, where she met Lord Bath.
She visited the park many times since and wanted to relive those experiences once more.
From admiring rhinos to sharing laughs with cheeky meerkats and monkeys, Mima, 90, enjoyed a fun-filled and hands-on day. She also embarked on the drive-through safari, getting to know the zebras, giraffes and lions.
Mima said: “It was such a lovely day. I can’t believe how close we got to the animals, especially the lions!”
The trip to the zoo was part of the care home’s ongoing commitment to helping residents lead rewarding lives and stay connected to their passions and the wider community.
Phil Vale, home manager at Rossetti House, said: “It was a truly memorable day for all involved. Watching Mima reconnect with old memories and share stories from when the safari park first opened was so heartwarming.
“The smile on her face was priceless. It’s this kind of outing that brings so much happiness and creates lasting memories for residents, and we’re proud to make them happen.”
This special experience was made possible through Care UK’s Wishing Tree initiative, which encourages residents to share their personal ambitions.
