The third Midsomer Norton and Radstock Rotary Club Art and Photographic Show for young people was held at Writhlington School throughout last week.
Exhibits, which totalled 136, came from pupils at Downside, Norton Hill, Somervale and Writhlington Schools, plus Norton Radstock College. The exhibits were split into two age groups, 11–16 years and 17–19 years, and covered four classes – Landscape, Portrait, Free Expressions and Sculpture.
The winners and runners-up in each category were presented with gift vouchers very kindly donated by the show sponsors, the London Camera Exchange, Bath and Rose Crafts of Midsomer Norton.
The overall show winner was Conor Farr, who is pictured with the Rotary President, Bob Porter, with his exhibit which was in the Portrait 17–19 category.
This year, two new awards were introduced – the Rotary President's Award for Sculpture which went to George Brinkworth for his creation, 'Monster Money'.
All visitors were asked to complete a form choosing their Best in Show and when these slips were counted at the end of the show, Daisy Twist's 'Harbour', which had been entered in the Landscape 17–19 category, was voted the winner.
The Rotary Club must give a huge thank you to Writhlington School for hosting the event in their fantastic surroundings and for being so helpful with the preparation of the exhibition. Thanks also to Eye-Tech of Midsomer Norton who produced all the posters, entry forms and certificates.
