The business community joined Chelwood Bridge Rotary Club in an Easter Egg appeal, raising funds for local charities.

In the lead-up to Easter, 24 local businesses offered their customers the opportunity to win a prize that would make any child’s eyes grow large and their faces light up with

delight, a Giant Chocolate Easter Egg!

The Easter eggs, standing over a foot high, have been sitting on counters, in bars, shops, restaurants and schools throughout the district.

To have a chance of winning the egg, their customers placed their name on a chart containing 120 numbers and paid a pound for each number their name covered. Then throughout the district, draws took place to find out who, in each establishment, would win their egg. A special thank you to all the businesses and their customers for helping to raise a net total of £1,720 which will go to supporting four local charities. Hugo Pike
