The Teenage Cancer Trust Lead Nurse for the South West, Jamie Cargill and his friend, Business Coach, Nick Cramp, will be running a 24-hour ‘treadmill-a-thon’ in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust this weekend, to raise money towards their marathon fundraising targets, and to help support the vital work of the cancer charity.

The runners are neighbours from Stoke St Michael. Nick will be running the Brighton Marathon on 15th April, with Jamie running the Virgin Money London Marathon a week later. To contribute to their marathon fundraising targets, the pair are holding a 24-hour ‘treadmill-a-thon’ for their chosen charity, Teenage Cancer Trust.

The event will be held at the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre, also home to the Teenage Cancer Trust’s specialist unit for 16–24-year-olds diagnosed with cancer, and will start at 6 p.m. this Sunday, 25th March and finish the following evening. Thanks to the donation hire from Absolute Health Bristol, Nick and Jamie will take it in turns to run on the treadmill over the course of 24 hours, all in support of teenagers and young adults affected by cancer.

Nick, a former Iron Man finisher, said: “As I’m normally a triathlete, I am really looking forward to the marathon, to just having one discipline to focus on. I chose to run for Teenage Cancer Trust, as I know of the amazing commitment the South West nurses and staff make to their patients and families. I am constantly in awe of the level of professionalism and compassion they demonstrate on a daily basis.”

This will be Jamie’s sixth Virgin Money London Marathon for the Teenage Cancer Trust, however, it will be the first time running the marathon as the race’s lead charity. “I’ve done quite a few marathons over the years, from New York to Snowdonia, but London is always special, especially being part of the Teenage Cancer Trust team. There’s a feeling of camaraderie amongst the team and the support from the charity is always fantastic.

“I see first-hand the impact a cancer diagnosis has on the young people and their families, and that is why it is so important they have the specialist care and support that our services provide.”
