Pupils in years three and four had been practicing all term for the finale last Friday night!
School Headteacher, Ruth Noall, said: “The class had been working on this play for a term, incorporating it into their English, dance, drama and music lessons. They were supported by drama specialist Lizzie from the Travelling Light theatre company - who visited weekly to support the children rehearse.
“The children looked amazing in their costumes, delivered their lines with clarity and character, sang stupendously and danced with great energy.
“It really was one of the best performances we have watched in a long time!”
The audience were also treated to a curry in the interval which was sold to help raise funds for the school whilst turning the event into a fun family evening.
Shoscombe School has spent this year developing a whole school drama curriculum and aims for every child to perform throughout the year, every year.
This year, the Early Years children performed the nativity; Year one and two performed The Ugly Duckling; now Year three and four have performed Alice in Wonderland; and Year five and six are going to be performing Olivia at The Egg Theatre in the Summer. To help them prepare, the Year five and six children will be going to see My Fair Lady in London in June!
