Last Thursday, Radstock in Bloom held its annual Presentation evening at the Trinity Methodist Church in Radstock.

Sean Fletcher, Chair of Radstock in Bloom, introduced and welcomed the Chair of B&NES Council, Cllr Eleanor Jackson, Barry Cruse MBE and other guests.

Before the formal presentations were made, everyone was invited to stand for a minute’s silence in memory of Brian Perrett, a founder member of the Radstock in Bloom team, and Denise James, the Chair of Keynsham in Bloom, Secretary of South West in Bloom and a national Judge.

The Radstock in Bloom Front Garden competition winners were the first results announced, followed by the ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood’ awards, which this year, included Westfield Allotment and Gardening Society. The final awards were for Commerce, Tourism and Industry, and finally, the Town’s entry in the Ayre Cup.

Before refreshments were served, Barry Cruse MBE made some very encouraging comments.

Results are as follows: Hanging Baskets/Containers: Manor Farm Residential Home – Gold; Jane Day 2 – Silver; Joanne Stedham – Silver; Chris James – Silver. Front Gardens: Gerald Jenkins – Gold; Bev Horler – Gold; Ivor Horler – Gold; Rose Rogers – Bronze; Overall winner – Gerald Jenkins.
