St BENEDICT’S Catholic Primary School in Midsomer Norton has been awarded Bronze Rights Respecting School Status in recognition of its commitment to promoting children’s rights and ensuring that every pupil feels valued, respected, and heard.

The school that is part of the Dunstan Catholic Educational Trust celebrated its achievements in encouraging a culture of dignity, fairness, and respect across the entire school community.

The award reflects the dedication of staff and pupils alike in embedding the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child into everyday school life.

The school’s Rights Rangers under the guidance of Mrs Winter were instrumental in helping the school achieve their milestone with the school community is now working to achieve the next level of Silver in the Rights Respecting School Status.

The Rights Respecting Schools Award, run by UNICEF UK, recognises schools that put the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) into practice, creating safe, inspiring, and inclusive learning environments.

Across the UK, more than 1.6 million children attend Rights Respecting Schools, with more than 5,000 schools on the journey to achieving the award, giving young people the best chance to thrive academically, socially, and personally.

Headteacher at St Benedict's Catholic Primary School, Ellen Croker, said: “We are incredibly proud to achieve Bronze Rights Respecting Status.
