Norton Down Methodist Church
Our worship this morning (Sunday, June 14) was led by a member of the congregation who used as her theme ‘family'. Wednesday sees us open our Chapel for coffee/tea and biscuits. The chat is free and you would be amazed how many subjects we can cover in an hour.
Sunday, June 21, our worship will be led by Rev. White. You are cordially invited to join with us for all or either of these events. We are a friendly group and would be very pleased to meet you.

Batheaston Brutalist Church
AN overlooked architectural gem tucked away in a Somerset village is set to be saved from demolition and turned into a daycare centre. The Church of the Good Shepherd stands out from the village both literally and stylistically in the village of Batheaston.
When local architect Martin Fisher designed the new Catholic church in the 1960s, he decided to lean into the modernism of the times. The angular roof which can be seen rising above the buildings of the High Street is a bold twist on the typical idea of a church spire, using new materials and a new architectural style - brutalism.
With a declining congregation, the church, sadly, never reopened after the Covid-19 lockdown.
Last year, Bath and North East Somerset Council granted planning permission for it to be demolished and replaced with houses yet voices in the village called for the iconic building to be saved.
Hailed by the The Council for British Archaeology as “a characteristic and interesting example of mid-twentieth century religious architecture,” the church looks now set to become a centre for children’s daycare provision in the village.
