Bring your small-to-medium teddy bear for a zipwire ride at Radstock Museum’s children’s event, ‘Up, Down and Away’.
The event takes place during half-term week on Thursday, 21st February, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.
Teddies will be safely harnessed and clipped on to the wire, which will run from the Museum’s mezzanine floor to the ground floor. On the way down, Teddy will be able to take in the view of Trigger the horse, a large model traction engine and a coal tub as he, or she, zooms down the wire. Then, Teddy will be safely caught by one of the museum’s volunteers and returned to you.
This is just one of the many activities at the event, where children will also be able to make cars, hot air balloons, parachutes and aeroplanes and try them out.
For all of the half-term holiday week (from Saturday, 16th until Sunday, 24th February), the museum, its shop and tearoom will be open every day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., except on Sundays, when the usual opening hours of 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. apply.
All tickets are annual, so you can come back for free as often as you like, and included in your annual ticket there are lots of free events for children this half-term.
All week, there will be a ‘Thomas the Tank Engine Trail’ – once the children have found Thomas and all his friends, who will be hiding around the museum, they can collect a free prize.
On Tuesday, 19th February, from 2.30 p.m. to 3 p.m., and again from 3.30 p.m. to 4 p.m., the Mendip Storyteller, Martin Horler, returns for Museum Storytime.
On Wednesday, 20th February from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the museum has ‘Meccano Modeling’ with Meccano experts coming in to help children build Meccano models. For all museum visitors, there is a fantastic model-engineering exhibition to enjoy, which includes some models which visitors can touch by pressing buttons or turning handles, to see them working.
The museum volunteers, who have planned all these activities, are very much looking forward to welcoming you all. For more details, visit: radstockmuseum.co.uk or call: 01761 437722.
