Directors from Westfield-based Bridges Electrical Engineers Ltd. enjoyed a team building day with a difference last Wednesday, helping Radstock charity shop, PEOPLE, with a DIY-SOS-style makeover.
For one day only, the Directors donned their overalls, grabbed paintbrushes and toolkits to help redecorate the shop, which is due to officially reopen this week. The company supplied all of the paint and tools needed and set to work.
Managing Director, Matthew Bridges, explains: “Today has been all about team building – as part of that, we wanted to have a positive impact on our local community and so approached the charity, PEOPLE, which has sites in both Radstock and Midsomer Norton.
“It has been a great day and really served its purpose – I would recommend it to anyone who is considering doing something a little different as part of their team building events. Everyone has been really keen to muck in and has actively participated.”
Each member was assigned a role for the day, which saw them painting, cleaning windows and revamping furniture. Some were not so lucky, with four of the team designated
‘Apprentices’, where they were tasked with making tea and the general tidying up!
Bridges Electrical was founded in 1973 and employs 150 staff from the local area. It provides engineering for water, quarrying and nuclear industries, and although based in Westfield, has offices across the south of the country. Last Wednesday’s makeover was such a success that the team hope to make their charitable day an annual event.
