Ted’s Big Bake Off launched last week as the RUH is headlong into raising the final £1.8 million needed for a brand new, pioneering Cancer Centre for the area. Bakers across the region put on their oven gloves and aprons for the cause, including Radstock Co-operative and Mells Church of England First School.

“We’ve been absolutely overwhelmed at the level of support we’ve received this year for our brand new fundraising week for the RUH: Ted’s Big Bake Off,” says Laura Pearce, Events Fundraiser for the Forever Friends Appeal. “Last week, all across Bath, Somerset and Wiltshire, hundreds of businesses, schools, individuals and community organisations held bake sales, bake-offs and coffee mornings in support of either the RUH Cancer Care Campaign or a ward or department of their choice.

“The fundraising week was closed on Friday, 9th October with a special RUH Big Bake Sale – the biggest cake sale the RUH has ever seen, which saw hundreds of cakes donated to be sold in the hospital’s main atrium. The bake sale was officially opened by Celebrity Baker, Tom Herbert, who is one half of television’s The Fabulous Baker Brothers and raised over £1,000 for the RUH Cancer Care Campaign – we are delighted! We would like to thank everyone for taking part in this year’s event and hope everyone will take part next year!”
