Once again, the Rotary Club of Somer Valley is supporting the Royal British Legion by selling poppies at Radstock Co-op. The Co-op
management have given the club a prime position in the lobby next to the travel agents. Arranged by club member, Mike Cosh, members are doing two hour shifts from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., every day, except Sunday and Wednesday, throughout the Appeal period.
Annually, the club collects around £2,000 and Mike estimates that thanks to the generosity of the public, this year it is quite likely they will do just as well. With a range of poppies, bracelets and wooden crosses on display, many people ask how much they are, so we have to explain that there is no fixed price – just donate whatever you feel you can safely afford.
The Rotary club meets at the Fromeway, Frome Road, Radstock, at 8 p.m. every Tuesday evening. Visitors are always welcome, as are potential new members. Call club Secretary, Pauline Short, on 01373 472188, or visit the club website: www.somerrotary.
